Elevate your nail game to a whole new level by adding chrome powder. By the end of this guide, you'll breeze through the process of achieving flawless chrome nails over your dip powder manicure!
You'll need:
- Dip base coat
- colored dip powder
- activator
- nail tools like file and buffer, cuticle precision tool
- chrome powder, or a really shimmery dip powder
- a cosmetic sponge or eyeshadow applicator
- gel top coat
- LED nail lamp
Step 1: Prep
Shape your nails, push back your cuticles, and buff the surface lightly to ensure a smooth application.
Step 2: Apply The Dip Powder:
Start by applying the base coat and dipping your nails into the dip powder color of your choice. Follow the standard dip powder process, including the activator step, to create a solid foundation for the chrome powder. Make sure your nails are perfectly smooth with no lumps or bumps because the chrome powder will reveal even the tiniest flaw on your manicure. Do not skip the buffing and filing step after activating!
Step 3: Apply a No-Wipe Gel Top Coat
Before diving into the chrome powder application, apply a no-wipe gel top coat over the activated nail and cure for half of the instructed time. This will provide a smooth surface for the chrome powder to adhere to and enhance the overall finish.
Step 4: Application Technique
Using a sponge applicator or eyeshadow applicator, pick up a small amount of the chrome powder. Gently rub the chrome powder onto the gel top coat evenly across the entire nail surface until you achieve the desired level of chrome.
Step 5: Brush Off the Excess
Once the chrome powder is applied, use a clean, fluffy brush to gently wipe the nail. This step removes any excess powder.
Step 6: Seal the Chrome
Seal the chrome with another layer of the no wipe gel top coat to lock in the chrome effect. Cure for the full 90 or 120 seconds under LED lamp.
ALL DONE! The chrome powder was just one extra step to your mani, and elevated the entire experience! Show off your new chrome manicure in our Community Facebook Group!
